2011 Reserve Riesling from Kacaba Vineyards

Another VQA tonight, this time from Kacaba Vineyard in Vineland. At $17.95, this Riesling (Reserve 2011) is not an everyday purchase but would make a nice present or a good celebratory bottle. And isn't getting through Tuesday celebration enough?

A: This will be a true test because I don't always like Rieslings. It's a very light-coloured wine. It's surprisingly juicy, like a peach, it leaves a syrupy taste in my mouth. Rather sweet but tart at the same time, think a really crisp apple. At the same time, it's pretty lightly flavoured for all it's syrupiness. I'd say I could drink a lot of this wine but at that price I'm not likely to.

L: Fleshy, a rich but mellow taste. I really like it and I don't really drink whites. It's equally complex to a red for me. I'd definitely drink it again, but I'm not sure any wine is really worth that much.

M: Dear Internet: This wine is good. Like mouth-watering good. Honestly, my mouth-watered when I took my first sniff. I agree with the girls though, it's out of my normal price range but definitely nice for a treat.
